The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer consists of four of the best yet classic fairy tales Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Rapunzel and Snow White seamlessly blending the classic stories into her own world. The stories are all also connected following the same problem and building upon the existing characters while adding the new ones. It's as if you're reading a whole new story with familiar aspects. You'll just have to read the books to find out what I'm referring to.
Also I just want to mention that I will definitely be going into more detail about what I think of these wonderful books in my review. This post is just to give you an idea of what the books are generally about.
Cinder (currently reading)
It came out in 2012 and of course as you can tell from the name the related fairy tale is Cinderella. I'm over half way done so be expecting a review soon.
It's the second book and was published in 2013. It follows a story similar to Little Red Riding Hood along with Cinder.
It was published in 2014. In addition to Cinder and Scarlet, Cress was adapted from Rapunzel.
Published in 2015, you could probably guess from its name that it's based on Snow White but this book is actually a prequel to Cinder focusing on the evil queen Levana's backstory taking place about 10 years before Cinder.
Also published in 2015, it is the conclusion to the series adding the adaptation of Snow White into the mix of the other three famous fairy tales.
Stars Above (unread)
This is actually a compilation of all the short stories in The Lunar Chronicles world focusing on the supporting characters, good and bad of which five of the stories had never been published before. This was released just last year in 2016.
I hope you enjoyed this post and if you haven't read any of The Lunar Chronicles you might just want to go pick yourself up a copy.
